Effingham, St. Anthony Compete In Indoor Meets

MOUNT ZION -- Effingham High School's girls and boys track teams competed in the Apollo Indoor Meets Saturday at the Mount Zion Fieldhouse.

Effingham took several top five finishes in the girls meet.The Effingham 1600 relay team of Kiyah Kuhlman, Kylee Beard, Kaylee Phillips and Miranda Fox finished second with a time of 4:31.86.

Fox finished third in the 400 meter dash in 1:05.92 and took fifth in the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 7 1/2 inches. Natalie Carie took fourth in the triple jump at 30-9 while teammate Hannah Taylor was fifth in 29-8 1/2.

Kourtney Cordes captured third place in the 3200 meter run with a time of 13:19.30. Cordes also finished fifth in the 1600 meter run in 6:12.03.

Shelby Myers captured third place in the shot with a throw of 32-10 1/2.

The Effingham 3200 relay team of Cordes, Lali Hoyos, Hope Monnet and Hannah Pike finished fifth in 12:45.69.

In the boys meet, Kody Line captured third in the 60 meter dash in 7.63. Jack Woelfer took second in the 200 in 25.45. Clayton Cramsey was fifth in the 400 in 55.65.

Alfredo Lopez finished third in the 3200 in 10:53.88.

Jacob Bushue took third and Lucas Vasquez fifth in the 60 meter hurdles in 9.90 and 10.60 respectively.

The Effingham 800 relay team of Jacob Miller, Jack Woelfer, Tyler Marschewski and Line finished in 1:40.10 and the team of Braden Hasty, Logan Arend, Kaleb Kihne and Ethan McElroy finished fifth in 1:45.6.

The 1600 relay team of Woelfer, Miller, Cramsey and Kihne took fourth in 3:52.20.

In the field events, Line won the long jump with a leap of 20-2 and captured fourth place in the high jump at 5-10. L. Vasquez was second in the pole vault at 10-7. Jaocb Miller was fourth in the triple jump at 37-7.

Effingham St. Anthony boys and girls competed in the Southern Illinois University Indoor Meets Saturday.

Anna Sophia Keller, who has verablly committed to compete for the University of Notre Dame after she fniishes her senior season at St. Anthony, captured first place in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:00.85.

St. Anthony's Sarah Carr finished sixth place in the 800 meters in 2:34.84.

In the boys' meet, Ty Kinkelaar finished fifth in the shot with a throw of 46 feet while teammate Dalton Walk took sixth with a toss of 44-6.

Clayton Helmink finished 21st in the 3200 in 12:00.0 and Blake Fitzgerald was 22nd in the 400 in 57.4.
