EHS Takes Several Top Spots at Winston Brown Invitational

EDWARDSVILLE -- Effingham High School finished eighth in the Winston Brown Boys Track Invitational Saturday at Edwardsville High School.

Edwardsville won its own meet with 175 points followed by Cahokia 128.5, O'Fallon 128, Plainfield North 113, Troy Triad 81, Collinsville 65, Alton 43.5, Effingham 31, Belleville Althoff Catholic 28, Carbondale 18, Harrisburg 10 and O'Fallon 5.

The Hearts had three second place finishes in the meet. Alec Morrissey captured second going over the pole vault at 12 feet, 3 inches. Drew Vasquez finished fourth at 11-3.

Jacob Donaldson took second place in the 800 with a time of 1:59.93 minutes. Also finishing second was Sean Zerrusen in the 400 with a time of 50.89 seconds.

Other EHS finishes were C.J. Schmidt eighth in the 3200 in 10:58.12 minutes, Collin Hecht eighth in the 300 low hurdles in 42.86 seconds, Ashton Blunt ninth in the shot with a throw of 41 feet, 3 1/2 inches and Frank Schniederjon 14th in 40-1 1/2, Jacob Bushue 11th in the 110 hurdles in 18.51 and Lucas Vasquez 12th in 18.64, Tristen Rhodes 11th in the 200 in 24.22, Kaleb Kihne 11th in the 400 in 55.22 and Brendan Dawkins 14th in the discus with a throw of 108-3 and Schniederjon 15th in 107-7 and Braden Hasty 17th in the 100 in 12.50 seconds.
