EHS Takes Third at Mattoon Girls Track Invite

MATTOON -- Charleston High School captured the championship of the Mattoon Girls Track Invitational Tuesday.

The Trojans tallied 120 points followed by Mattoon 106, Effingham 68, Centralia 49, Mount Zion 39, Effingham St. Anthony 38, Vandalia 33, Taylorville 27.5, Clinton 27, Teutopolis 20.5, Tuscola 16 and Salem 14.

Effingham's Shayna Phillips won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:21.97 minutes. St. Anthony's Abby Weis finished second in 2:26.06. Effingham's Hannah Taylor claimed the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 3 inches.

The Hearts had a second place finish in the 1600 relay in 4:15.94 and took third in the 800 relay in 1:50.94. Kiyah Kuhlman took second in the 300 hurdles in 48.23. Kristina Rivera finished third in the 100 in 13.41.

St. Anthony's Anna Sophia Keller won the 1600 with a time of 4:58.40 while Weis finished second in 5:32. Anna Hartke nabbed second in the high jump at 5-3. Kristin Slaughter took second in the pole vault at 11-6 while T-town's Jolene Bueker was third at 8-6.
