Jamie Michl Wins 800 Meters For Millikin

Millikin University was the host the for the 2016 Big Blue Invite Track Meet on April 9 in Decatur, Illinois.  The event featured athletes from 10 schools competing.

Millikin’s Jamie Michl (Newton, H.S.) won the 800 Meters in 2:17.99.

The Big Blue’s Sarah Bradley (Decatur, MacArthur H.S.) was second in the 5000 Meters in 17:52.48.

Millikin freshman Erin Owens (Bloomington, H.S.) was third in the 100 Meters in 12.54 seconds, which was fourth fastest in school history.  Owens finished in fourth place in the 200 Meters in 26.39.  Her time was the seventh fastest all-time for the Big Blue.

Other top Millikin finishes in the women’s competition included Erin Lukens (Johnston City, Herrin H.S.) finishing sixth in the 100 Hurdles in 16.74 seconds and Michaela Ponstein (Oswego, H.S.) finishing sixth in the 400 Hurdles in 1:09.77.

The Millikin men recorded three fourth place finishes in individual events.  R.J. O’Connor (Trinity, Florida, Gulf H.S.) was fourth in the 200 meters in 22.98, Jordan McCall (Illiopolis, Sangamon Valley H.S.) was fourth in the 400 Meters in 50.85 and Jesse Blair (Niantic, Sangamon Valley H.S.) was fourth in the Javelin at 46.65 (153-1).

Millikin’s Sam Rackovan (Dardenne Prairie, Missouri, Fort Zumwalt West H.S.) was seventh in the High Jump at 1.80 meters (5-10.75) and Ryan McDonald (Loami, New Berlin H.S.) was eighth in the Shot Put in 13.34 meters (44-9.50).
