Keller Nabs Two Top Finishes, Area Tracksters in Top Times Event

Anna Sophia Keller nabbed two first place finishes in the Class 1A Illinois Top Times Indoor Track Meet Friday.

Keller, a junior, took first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:15.98 minutes. She came back with a top finish in the 1600 meter run in 4:52.15, breaking the 1A meet record and her own school record.

Newton's McKendra Barthelme finished second in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.14 seconds. She took first place in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 8 1/2 inches.

The Eagles 1600 relay team was fourth in 4:16.43 while the 800 relay team tied for third with a time of 1:50.86.

T-town's 800 relay team finished seventh in 1:53.21. The Wooden Shoes' Anna Hartke finished ninth in the high jump at 4 feet, 11 inches.

In the boys' portion of the meet, Newton's Joseph Stone captured second place in the 800 with a time of 2:01.42 minutes.

The Eagles' Keith King was 12th in the high jump at 6 feet. Kiel Apple competed in the 60 hurdles and finished in 9.97 seconds but did not advance to the finals.

T-town's Andrew McWhorter captured sixth place in the pole vault with a vault of 13-6. Noah Blievernicht competed in the 60 hurdles and had a time of 8.88 in prelims but did not advance to the finals.

Cumberland's Kort McClelland took seventh in the 3200 in 10:11.67. Trevor Beard was seventh in the triple jump at 41-10 3/4.
