Michel is CCIW Track Champion in 800

The Millikin men’s and women’s track and field team wrapped up competition at the 2016 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Indoor Track and Field Championships held at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois on February 26-27. The Millikin men finished tied for seventh and the Big Blue women were seventh.
Millikin senior Jamie Michl (Newton, H.S.) is the CCIW Champion in the 800 Meters winning in 2:18.21, which is second fastest time in school history.
Freshman Erin Owens (Bloomington, H.S.) earned All-Conference honors in two events. Owens finished in third in the 200 Meters in 26.14 seconds. Her time is third fastest in Big Blue history. Owens finished in fourth in the 60 Meters dash in 7.97 seconds. Her time in the prelims of 7.95 seconds was second fastest in school history.
Millikin’s Sarah Bradley (Decatur, MacArthur H.S.) was eighth in the 3000 Meters in 10:49.55.
On Friday, Millikin finished second in the Women’s Distance Medley Relay in a school record time of 12:31.03. Michl, Erin Lukens (Johnston City, Herrin H.S.), Michaela Ponstein (Oswego, H.S.) and Bradley ran legs for the Big Blue.
In the men’s competition, Jacob Segrest (Brighton, Southwestern H.S.) earned All-Conference honors in three events. On Saturday, Segrest finished in fifth place in the 60 Meters in 7.16 seconds, which is eighth fastest in school history. Segrest finished seventh in the Triple Jump 12.46 meters (42-2.75). On Friday, finished in third place in the Men’s Long Jump at 6.94 meters (22-9.25).
The Big Blue’s Jordan McCall (Illiopolis, Sangamon Valley H.S.) finished in 10th in the 400 Meters in a school record time of 50.71 seconds. McCall’s time in the 200 Meters of 23.21 seconds, was 10th fastest in school history.
