Jamie Michl Sets School Record, Winning 600

DECATUR, Illinois — The Millikin men’s and women’s track teams competed against several NCAA Division I teams at the Friday Night Special hosted by Eastern Illinois University Friday in Charleston.  Team scores were not kept for non-Division I programs.

Millikin senior Jamie Michl (Newton, H.S.) won the 600 meters in a school record time of 1:35.79.

Freshman Erin Owens (Bloomington, H.S.) was third in the 200 meters in 26.45, which was the fourth fastest time in school history.  Owens finished in seventh in the 60 meters in 7.99 seconds.

Freshman Erin Lukens (Johnston City, Herrin H.S.) was fifth in the 200 meters in 27.16.

The Millikin women’s 4x400 relay finished in fourth in 4:14.17 with Michaela Ponstein (Oswego, H.S.), Lukens, Michl and Rachel Breault (St. Anne, Bishop McNamara H.S.) running legs.

In the men’s competition, Timee McElroy (Mt. Zion, H.S.) finished in fifth place in the 1000 meters in 2:40.31, which is the third fastest time in school history.

Jordan McCall (Illiopolis, Sangamon Valley H.S.) finished in eighth in the 400 meters in 51.85.
