Jamie Michl Takes Third in 800 Meters

The Millikin men’s and women’s track and field team each finished in sixth place at the Illinois Wesleyan Keck D-III Select Meet held on February 6 in Bloomington, Illinois.

Freshman Erin Owens (Bloomington, H.S.) continued her strong start to her career finishing third in the 200 Meters in 26.46 seconds, which tied her for Millikin’s fourth fastest time in the event.  Owens fourth in 60 Meters in 7.98 seconds.  Her time in the prelims of 7.96 was the second fastest time in school history.

Big Blue senior Jamie Michl (Newton, H.S.) was third in the 800 Meters in 2:19.23 a personal best time that improved her second spot on the Millikin Indoor Track Top 10 Performance list.

Other Millikin top finishes included Michaela Ponstein (Oswego, H.S.) finishing in fourth in the 400 Meters in 1:02.38 and Sami Battle (Odell, Pontiac H.S.) finishing tied for fourth in the High Jump at 1.50 meters (4-11.00).
