Jamie Michl Wins 600 Meters For Millikin

The Millikin men’s and women’s track and field team had a strong showing at the Midwest Invite hosted by Monmouth College on January 23 in Monmouth, Illinois.  No team scores were kept for the event.

Millikin freshman Erin Owens (Bloomington, H.S.) picked up two first place finishes.  Owens won the 60 Meter Dash in 7.96 seconds and finished first in the 300 Meters in 43.98.  Owens time in the 300 was the fifth fastest in school history.

Big Blue senior Jamie Michl (Newton, H.S.) won the 600 meters in 1:39.11 with teammate Michaela Ponstein (Oswego, H.S.) finishing in second at 1:49.34.  Michl improved her second place mark and the Big Blue Indoor Track Top Ten Performance List.  Ponstein’s personal best time improved her eighth all-time best mark.

Freshman Erin Lukens (Johnston City, Herrin H.S.) was second in the 300 Meters in 44.36 seconds, which is sixth fastest in school history.  Lukens was fourth in the 60 Meters Hurdles in 10.10 seconds.  Her qualifying time of 9.97 seconds was third fastest in Millikin history.

Sarah Bradley (Decatur, MacArthur H.S.) was fourth in the 800 Meters in 2:32.49.

Millikin was second in the Women’s 4x400 Relay in 4:15.87 with Lukens, Owens, Ponstein and Michl running legs.

In the men’s events, Millikin’s Jordan McCall (Illiopolis, Sangamon Valley H.S.) won the 400 Meters in 51.51 seconds, which is third fastest in school history.

Alexander Erickson (Waterford, Wisconsin, Muskego H.S.) was second in the 1 Mile Run in 4:31.99. Jacob Segrest (Brighton, Southwestern H.S.) was fourth in the 300 Meters in 37.65 seconds.  Segrest moved to fifth place on the Millikin Indoor Track Top 10 Performance List.  Segrest finished in fourth in the Long Jump in 6.31 meters.
Timee McElroy (Mt. Zion, H.S.) was sixth in the 800 Meters in 2:04.05
