DECATUR, Illinois — The Millikin men’s and women’s track and field team opened the 2016 Indoor season at the Lewis University Illiana Invite on January 15 in Romeoville, Illinois.  The Millikin men finished in third place while the Big Blue women were fourth.

In the men’s competition, Jordan McCall (Illiopolis, Sangamon Valley H.S.) won the 600 Meters in 1:25.09 with senior Kenneth Albin (Danville, Bismarck Henning H.S.) finishing in second at 1:33.59.

Millikin had a strong showing in the men’s distance events.  Timothee McElroy (Mt. Zion, H.S.) was second in the 1000 Meters in 2:44.69, which placed McElroy seventh on the Millikin Indoor Track Top 10 performance list.

Freshman Alexander Erickson (Waterford, Wisconsin, Muskego H.S.) was second in the 1 Mile Run in 4:30.80 and a fourth place in the 1000 Meters with a time of 2:59.61.

Freshman Will Zeisset (Waterloo, H.S.) was sixth in the 1000 Meters in 3:04.95 and seventh in the 1 Mile Run in 5:06.91.

Millikin’s Jacob Segrest (Brighton, Southwestern H.S.) was fifth in the 200 Meter in 24.17 while J.C. Wagner was eighth with a time of 25.16.

The Millikin 4x400 Relay team (Segrest, Luis Vasquez (Shiller Park, East Leyden H.S.), McCall, McElroy) was second in 3:39.72.

In the weight throw Ryan McDonald (Loami, New Berlin H.S.) finished in fourth place at 12.28 meters (40-3.25) and RC Kirk (Carlinville, H.S.) was sixth in 10.47 meters (34-4.25).

McDonald was sixth in the Shot Put at 11.77 meters (38-7.50) and Kirk was seventh at 8.64 meters (28-4.25).

In the women’s competition, freshman Erin Owens (Bloomington, H.S.) had a strong collegiate debut winning the 200 Meters in 26.92 seconds and finishing in fourth in the 55 Meters in 7.35 seconds.  Both of Owens times placed on the Millikin Indoor Track Top 10 Performance List.

Senior Jamie Michl (Newton, H.S.) was second in the 600 Meters in 1:39.19 improving her second all-time mark on the Millikin Indoor Top 10 performance list.

Freshman Erin Lukens (Johnston City, Herrin H.S.) was seventh in the 55 Meter Hurdles in 9.53.

Senior Rachel Breault (St. Anne, Bishop McNamara H.S.) was eighth in the 600 Meters in 1:54.81 and seventh in the Shot Put in 7.05 meters.

Freshman Alexis Obermeyer (Clinton, H.S.) was fifth in both the Shot Put and the Weight Throw.  She had a distance of 9.79 meters (32-1.50) in the Shot and threw 11.13 meters (36-6.25).

Brianna Trimuel (Flossmoor, Homewood Flossmoor H.S.) was eighth in the Long Jump at 4.27 meters (14-0.25) and Elizabeth Shappard (Carbondale, H.S.) was eighth in the 3000 Meter in 13:00.37.
