DECATUR, Ill. -- Millikin University, in conjunction with the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), announced its Jack Swartz award recipients and the CCIW Academic All-Conference team for Spring season of 2015.
Millikin junior track and field athlete Michaela Ponstein and senior baseball player Adam Carlisle were selected as the Jack Swartz winners for the Spring season. To be considered as a Swartz Award winner, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.50 grade point average, earned a letter in their varsity sport and made a leadership contribution to their program.
Ponstein earned All-Conference honors in women’s track and field while excelling in the classroom as an Elementary Education major.
Carlisle led all Spring sports male athletes in grade point average for the second straight year. Carlisle earned his fourth varsity letter in baseball while maintaining a stellar grade point average in Physical Education.
Each season the CCIW selects an Academic All-Conference Team. To be recognized, the student-athlete must be enrolled as a full-time student; must have earned a letter during the 2015 spring season; and must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average at the start of their season.
Named to the Team was Jamie Michl, a junior in track and field from Newton. Michel is earning a degree in Elementary Education.
