Effingham and Jasper County had athletes competing in the Class AA State Boys and Girls Tracks Meets at EastSide Centre in Peoria.
Effingham's eighth-grade girls 1600 relay team captured second place as the highest area finish. The Hearts finished with a time of 4:15.50 minutes. The winners were East St. Louis Lincoln in 4:13.30.
Effingham's 800 relay team captured sixth place with a time of 1:51.23 in eighth-grade girls.
Effingham's Miranda Fox took ninth in the 400 in 1:01.38, also in the eighth-grade girls.
The 800 relay team of Zach Lee, Kendall Ballman, Tyler Marchewski and Giovanny Ramos finished 20th with a time of 1:41.36. That broke an Effingham eighth-grade school record that was set in 1997 of 1:41.79. That team included Brandon Mix, Andy Tate, Josh Stortzum and Robert Wainner.
Clayton Cramsey finished in 10th place in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 2 inches.
