EHS Fifth At Big Trojan Boys Track Invitational

CHARLESTON -- Effingham High School captured fifth place in a nine-team field at the Big Trojan Boys Track Invitational Wednesday.

Mattoon won with 133 points followed by Salem 126.5, Charleston 121, Robinson 106.5, Effingham 89, Cumberland 59, Paris 21, Marshall 21 and Mount Zion 18.

Sean Zerrusen captured first place in the 400 for the Hearts. He finished with a time of 50.75 seconds.

EHS had a second and third place finish in the pole vault as Drew Vasquez went 12 feet and Alec Morrissey 11 feet. Billy Arndt was second in the shot with a throw of 45 feet, 1 inch while teammate Zach Miller took fourth at 41-6 1/2.

EHS also had a second place finish in the 1600 relay in 3:42.42.

Cumberland's Trevor Beard won the high jump at 5 feet, 10 inches. Monte Wolke took the pole vault at 14-5.
