St. Anthony, Altamont Nab Altamont Track Open Championships

Effingham St. Anthony and Altamont were team champions in the Altamont Track Opens Monday.

St. Anthony won the boys meet with 163 points followed by Altamont 111, Patoka 82, Neoga 65, Cowden-Herrick 48.5, Stewardson-Strasburg 38 and Brownstown/St. Elmo 36.5.

St. Anthony's Andrew Gardewine captured the 400 with a time of 52.26 seconds and took the 800 with a time of 2:09.84 minutes. The Bulldogs claimed the 1600 relay in 3:38.42. Members were Gardewine, Sager, Nxuoll and Keller. They also nabbed the 3200 relay in 8:56.11. Team members were Sager, Beesley, Keller and Gardewine.

In field events, St. Anthony's Alex Beesley won the high jump at 5 feet, 4 inches. Sam Wortman took the pole vault at 12-0. Dalton Walk captured the shot with a throw of 43-4.

Altamont's Jesus Flores was a double event winner, taking the 1600 in 4:54.19 and the 3200 in 10:59.96. The Indians' Travis Whitt won the 110 hurdles in 17.92 and the 300 hurdles in 45.61. Wyatt Stone captured the triple jump at 39-7.

St. Elmo/Brownstown's Seth Powell was a winner in the long jump at 18-11 1/2. Brock Oberlink captured the discus with a throw of 121-9.

In the girls meet, Altamont claimed the team championship with 167 points followed by Neoga 156, St. Anthony 90, Patoka 46, Cowden-Herrick 24, Stewardson-Strasburg 23 and Brownstown/St. Elmo 13.

Altamont's Leah Goldstein was a winner in the 100 with a time of 13.71 seconds. She also captured the 200 in 27.72. Kaitlyn Hoene won the 3200 in 14:39.29. Mackenzie Hoene won the 300 hurdles in 54.49. Hanna Wolff claimed the shot with a throw of 34-1.

St. Anthony's Kristin Slaughter won the 400 in 1:04.98 minutes and captured the pole vault at 11 feet. Emily Wortman was a winner in the 1600 in 7:18.38. Sara Ragland nabbed the 100 hurdles in 17.45. The 400 relay went to the Bulldogs in 53.09. Hannah Paquette was a winner in the long jump with a leap of 14-3 1/4.

Neoga's Olivia Ott claimed two victories. Ott won the long jump at 16-3 1/4 and the triple jump at 35-1 1/2. Morgan Partlow captured the 800 in 2:41.0. Kacie Hotze won the high jump at 4-10. The Indians claimed the 800 relay in 1:53.58 and the 3200 relay in 11:04.65. The discus went to Ellie Buening with a throw of 86-7.

Stewardson-Strasburg captured the 1600 relay in 4:47.24.
