St. Anthony, Neoga Capture NTC Track Championships

ALTAMONT -- Effingham St. Anthony High School claimed the National Trail Conference boys track meet Tuesday while Neoga was the team champion in the girls meet.
The Bulldogs won the boys meet with 201 points followed by Altamont 125, Neoga 71, Cowden-Herrick 51, Stewardson-Strasburg 39, Brownstown/St. Elmo 29 and Windsor 9.
Jacob Lorenz got the Bulldogs off in the right direction in the running events by taking the 100 with a time of 11.41 seconds. Andrew Gardewine then claimed the 400 in 51.45.
In the distance races, Peter Keller won the 800 in 2:06.96 minutes. Gardewine picked up a second win, this time in the 1600 in 4:48.76. Gardewine took a third win in the high jump at 6 feet.
Mitchell Sager was a winner in the 300 hurdles in 45.37 seconds. The Bulldogs claimed three of the four relay events. St. Anthony won the 800 in 1:39.66 and team members were Jack Nuxoll, Jon Blanchette, Kyle Hartke and Augie Heal. The 1600 relay went to Sager, Wyatt Lawrence, Zach Gardewine and A. Gardewine in 3:52.56. The 3200 relay team of Sager, Lawrence, Alex Beesley and Keller won in 9:24.03.
In field events, Sam Wortman and Kyle Hartke went 1-2 in the pole vault at 12-6 and 12-0. Dalton Walk and Derek Rios went 1-2 in the shot with throws of 40-10 1/2 and 37-7 respectively. Ty Kinkelaar won the discus with a throw of 126-5.
Altamont had several NTC champions. Logan Deadmond won the 200 in 24.74. Jesus Flores claimed the 3200 in 10:48.98. The 400 relay team of Deadmond, Travis Whitt, Wyatt Stone and Hunter Barns won in 48.05.
Neoga's Jordan Probst won the 110 hurdles in 16.85. Seth Powell of Brownstown/St. Elmo won the long jump at 18-8 1/2. Cowden-Herrick's Alby Rayo Moreno won the triple jump at 39-5.
Neoga then captured the girls meet with 172 points followed by Altamont 134, St. Anthony 108, Stewardson-Strasburg 34, Cowden-Herrick 20, Brownstown/St. Elmo 17 and Windsor 17.
Neoga's Olivia Ott was a double event winner. Ott claimed the triple jump with a leap of 34-4 3/4 and the long jump at 16-9. Other individual firsts came from Kacie Hotze in the high jump at 4-10, Ellie Buening in the discus with a throw of 91-5, Maddie Gibson in the 3200 in 14:31.93 and Makenzie Hill in the 100 hurdles in 17.58.
The Indians also nabbed three relay victories. Neoga won the 800 in 1:52.90, the 1600 in 4:41.64 and the 3200 in 10:56.09. The 3200 relay team was Morgan Partlow, Jaycie Roy, Rachel Ewing and Maddie Butler.
Altamont wins came in the 100 as Leah Goldstein crossed the line in 13.18 seconds and won the 200 in 27.66. Hannah Wolff won the shot with a throw of 30-8 1/2. Mackenzie Hoene was a winner in the 300 hurdles in 56.92.
St. Anthony's Kristin Slaughter won the 400 in 1:02.21 and the pole vault at 11 feet. Anna Sophia Keller also claimed two wins for the Bulldogs. She took the 800 in 2:19.34 and won the 1600 in 5:01.27. The Bulldogs 400 relay team of Aly Esker, Emily McDevitt, Slaughter and Sara Ragland won in 52.87.
