EHS Girls First at Paris Track Meet, Boys Sixth

PARIS -- Effingham High School claimed the championship of the girls portion of a meet at Paris Thursday.

The Hearts scored 187 points followed by Marshall 126, Neoga 82, Paris 67, Georgetown 45 and Tri-County 35

EHS had nine first place finishes in the meet. The Hearts nabbed the 3200 relay in 10:50 minutes and the 400 relay in 55.72 seconds. EHS also claimed the 1600 relay in 4:24.6.

Individual first place finishes came from Heuerman in the 100 hurdles in 17.05 seconds and the 300 hurdles, no time was listed. Phillips also won two events, the 400 in 1:02.6 and the 800 in 2:29.9.

Taylor claimed the 100 in 12.99 seconds while Michael was a winner in the discus with a throw of 103 feet.

In the boys meet, Tri-County was a winner with 128 points followed by Georgetown 112, Marshall 65, Lawrenceville 61, Paris 60, Effingham 58 and Neoga 56.

The Hearts had two second-place finishes. The Hearts 800 relay team took second with a time of 1:46 minutes. Homann was a second place finisher in the 400 in 55.72.
