Mattoon Wins Boys, Girls Track Meets at Teutopolis

TEUTOPOLIS -- Mattoon picked up victories in a triangular girls track meet and a quadrangular boys meet at Teutopolis Tuesday.

In the girls meet, Mattoon won with 89 points while Teutopolis had 74 and Patoka 14. The Green Wave captured 11 first place finishes in the meet.

Teutopolis was a winner in five events. Michelle Schmidt claimed the triple jump with a leap of 31 feet, 2 inches. Anna Hartke won the high jump at 4-10. Hanna Bueker was a winner in the pole vault at 10 feet. Shanna Niebrugge took the 1600 in 5:57.42 minutes. Rachel Westendorf was a winner in the 300 hurdles in 51.57 seconds. Emma Repking claimed the 3200 in 14:04.22.

In the boys meet, Mattoon won with 124 points followed by Teutopolis 95, Patoka 22 and Brownstown/St. Elmo 19.

Once again the Green Wave had 11 victories. T-town had five wins as Riley Drees and Drew Kowalski picked up two each. Drees won the 110 hurdles in 15.01 and the 800 in 2:12.4.

Kowalski claimed the triple jump at 37-10 1/2 and the pole vault at 13-0.

The Wooden Shoes also nabbed a relay event, the 1600 in 3:43.25.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's Seth Powell claimed the long jump with a leap of 17-6 1/4.
