T-town First at Olney Girls Track Meet

OLNEY -- Teutopolis High School claimed the championship of the Olney Girls Track Meet Monday. The Wooden Shoes tallied 157 points followed by Olney 150, Mount Carmel 102, Fairfield 70, Casey-Westfield 34, Lawrenceville 32 and Flora 11.

Rachel Westendorf and Michelle Schmidt were the leaders scoring for the Wooden Shoes. Both captured three first place finishes in the meet. Westendorf won the 100 hurdles in 18.28 seconds, captured the pole vault at 10 feet and won the 300 hurdles in 52.40. Schmidt claimed the long jump at 14 feet, 5 inches, the triple jump at 31-11 and the 200 in 28.84 seconds.

T-town nabbed the top four spots in the pole vault as Westendorf won followed by teammates Hannah Bueker second, Christa Schwinke third and Jolene Bueker fourth.

The Shoes also claimed six second, one third, seven fourth, six fifth and three sixth place finishes in the meet.

Olney was a winner in five events. The Tigers won the 400 relay in 53.96, the 800 relay in 1:55.05 and the 3200 relay in 11:02.09.
