Shoes Claim Boys, Girls Track Meets, SA Boys Third at Sullivan

TEUTOPOLIS -- The Wooden Shoes picked up both a boys and a girls win in five-team track meets Tuesday evening.

T-town won the girls meet with 184 points followed by Altamont 73, Flora 72, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 19 and Brownstown-St. Elmo 10.

Altamont's Hanna Wolf led all individual scorers in the field events with 14 points while Sarah Willey of T-town scored 10. Wolfe was a winner in the discus with a throw of 88 feet, 2 inches. Wolfe took second in the shot. Willey finished second in the discus and third in the shot.

Flora's Jessica Staley led all scorers in the running events with 16 points while T-town's Megan Weichman tallied 14. Weichman was a winner in the 100 hurdles in 18.29 seconds. She took second in the 300 hurdles

The Wooden Shoes swept the four relay events. T-town won the 3200 relay in 11:30.81 minutes, the 800 relay in 1:58.02, the 400 in 54.6 seconds and the 1600 in 4:48.22.

In the boys meet, Teutopolis won with 125 points followed by Altamont 100, Flora 87, Brownstown/St. Elmo 33 and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 24.

Flora's Leib was the leading scorer in the field events with 24 points while Logan Smith of Flora had 20. Leib captured first in the triple jump at 39 feet, 10 inches and finished second in the long jump and second in the discus. Smith won the long jump at 19 feet, 2 1/4 inches, took second in the triple jump and second in the high jump.

T-town's Riley Drees and Altamont's Deadmond finished with 16 points each in the running events. Drees won the 110 hurdles in 15.68 seconds and claimed the 300 hurdles in 40.8. Deadmond won the 200 in 24.97 seconds, took second in the 400 and fourth in the 100.

Tuscola claimed a boys quadrangular meet with 106.5 points followed by host Sullivan/Okaw Valley 72, St. Anthony 64 and Cerro Gordo/Bement 22.5.

The Bulldogs had five first place finishes in the meet. Andrew Gardewine won the 800 run in 2:05.00 minutes. Clayton Helmink claimed the 1600 in 5:19.00. Sam Wortman won the pole vault at 12 feet.

The 1600 relay team of Mitchell Sager, Nate Schmidt, Peter Keller and Gardewine won in 3:45.89. The 3200 relay team of Helmink, Wyatt Lawrence, Sager and Keller won in 9:38.00.
