Newton's Jamie Michel Claims Top 10 Finishes At Track Invitational

The Millikin men’s and women’s track teams competed in the Keck Invitational Saturday at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois. The men ended the event in sixth place and the women finished in a tie for fifth.
On the women’s side, Liz Wrobel (Tinley Park, Andrew H.S.) led the Big Blue by winning the 3000 Meters in a time of 11:05.70. This time moved her to third on Millikin’s Top Ten Overall Indoor Track Performances. Alivia Powers (Wapella, Clinton H.S.) joined Wrobel on the podium placing third (11:16.57) and also moved herself into sixth place on the Millikin Top Ten List.
The Millikin 4X400 meter relay team of Michaela Ponstein (Oswego, H.S.), Jennifer Parker (Libertyville, Vernon Hills H.S.), Clark, and Jamie Michl (Newton, H.S.) finished fifth in 4:13.03 placing them seventh on the top ten list.
Michl also ran the 800 meter run finishing sixth with a time of 2:26.73.
The Big Blue men’s 4x400 meter relay team of Bem Williams (Decatur, Maroa Forsyth H.S.), Jordan McCall (Illiopolis, Sangamon Valley H.S.), Paul Selman (Glen Ellyn, Glenbard West H.S.), and Rodney Johnson (Homewood, Homewood Flossmoor H.S.) finished a solid third place with a time of 3:26.47 setting an new Millikin Indoor Track record.
Selman also ran the 200 Meters finishing second with a time of 22.70 and placing him third overall on the top ten list.
Johnson finished ninth in the 400 Meters in 52.51 and put himself on top ten list in ninth place.
Jacob Griffith (Villa Grove, H.S.) placed fifth in the 3000 Meters in 9:24.51
The jumpers were not going to be left out with Millikin taking two podium positions in the long jump. Jacob Segrest (Brighton, Southwestern H.S.) finished first jumping 6.43 meters and Darrell Hunt (East St. Louis, Rosemount H.S.(Minn.)) came in third at 6.26meters.
Tristen Schum (Decatur, Mt. Zion H.S.) finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 12.77 meters.
