Girls High School Track Sectionals Today

Girls high school track sectionals are scheduled around the state and most of them are set to begin on this rainy, cold Thursday.
Almost all the area Class 1A teams from this area will be competing in the Lawrenceville Sectional which begins today at 4 p.m.
Teams entered include Altamont, Red Hill (Bridgeport), Brownstown/St. Elmo, Casey-Westfield, Cowden.-Herrick, Effingham St. Anthony, Flora Co-op, Lawrenceville, Marshall, Neoga, Newton, Oblong, Odin Co-op, Palestine/Hutsonville, Patoka Co-op, Robinson, Stewardson-Strasburg, Teutopolis and Cumberland.
Windsor will be competing in the Pana Sectional today starting at 4 p.m. Other teams entered are Arcola, Arthur-Lovington, Athens Co-op, Cerro Gordo Co-op, Decatur Lutheran, Decatur St. Teresa, Macon Meridian, Moweaqua Central A & M, Niantic Sangamon Valley Co-op, Pana, Petersburg PORTA Co-op, Riverton, Shelbyville, Sullivan Co-op, Tuscola and Warrensburg-Latham Co-op.
In Class 2A, Effingham will be competing in the Mattoon Sectional today beginning with field events at 4:30 p.m. and preliminaries in running events at 5 p.m.
Also competing are Bloomington Central Catholic, Champaign Centennial, Champaign Central, Charleston, Clinton, Decatur Eisenhower, Decatur MacArthur, Mahomet-Seymour, Mattoon, Monticello, Mount Carmel, Mount Zion, Olney, Paris, Rantoul and Urbana.
State qualifiers will advance to the state track meets at O'Brien Stadium in Charleston Thursday, May 22, Friday, May 23 and Saturday, May 24. The Class 1A preliminaries will be Thursday while the Class 2A and 3A prelims will be Friday. The state finals in all three classes will be Saturday.
