EHS Falls to Casey-Westfield, T-town Wins in Tennis

Effingham High School played host to Casey-Westfield in tennis competition Thursday and fell to the Warriors 6-3.

EHS tallied two points in singles play as Emma Kull won 6-0, 7-5 at the No. 1 spot. Kaylee Fred took the No. 3 victory. Fred lost the opener 6-4 but came back strong 6-1, 10-4.

In doubles, the Hearts picked up the No. 3 spot as Fred and Savannah Blake won 7-5, 6-0.

The Wooden Shoes handed Charleston an 8-1 loss to improve to 9-2 on the season Thursday.

In singles play, Holley Wright, Kaitlin Deters, Ashley Hemmen, Kara Schwinke and Sidney Brumleve were winners. Schwinke and Brumleve went 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, the Shoes swept. Allison Vogt and Elena Breer won 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 at No. 1. Hemmen-Taylor Deters claimed the No. 2 spot, 6-3, 6-4. Schwinke and Heather Dust wook the No. 3 position, 6-0, 6-0.
