St. A, T-town Blank Opponents, EHS Falls to Vandalia

Effingham St. Anthony High School handed Paris a 9-0 loss in tennis competition Tuesday.
The Bulldogs swept through singles action as Jenny Walters and Kelly Rentfrow won 6-0, 6-0. Anna Schutzbach claimed a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Tierney Hammer won 6-1, 6-1. Mary Claire Wegman claimed a 6-3, 6-1 win and Paige Koester won 6-4, 6-3.
In doubles, Walters and Schutzbach combined to blank their opponents 10-0. Hammer and Koester won 10-3 while Rentfrow and Schmidt were 10-4 winners.

At Salem
Teutopolis High School blanked Salem 7-0 to remain unbeaten in tennis action Tuesday.
The two teams played only four singles matches. Holley Wright won the top singles spot 6-0, 6-1 while Kaitlin Deters reversed the scores, winning 6-1, 6-0. Ashley Hemmen blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 while Sidney Brumleve won 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles action, Allison Vogt and Elena Breer won 6-0, 6-1. Kara Schwinke and Hemmen were 6-0, 6-0 winners. Deters and Brumleve combined to win 6-2, 6-0. The Wooden Shoes are now a perfect 5-0 on the season.

Vandalia came calling and handed the Hearts a 6-3 loss. The score was tied at 3-3 after singles competition but Vandalia took all three doubles contests to pull out the victory.
Emma Kull won for the Hearts at the No. 1 singles spot, 6-2, 1-6, 10-6. Megan Allen took the No. 3 spot, 7-5, 6-3. Tori Sims was a winner at No. 4, 7-5, 7-5.
