Sweeping through both singles and doubles competition, Effingham St. Anthony High School blanked Hillsboro 9-0 in tennis action Tuesday.
Jenny Walters, Anna Schutzbach, Kelly Rentfrow, Tierney Hammer, Mary Claire Wegman and Paige Koester were singles victors. In doubles play, Walters and Schutzbach won at the No. 1 spot while Hammer and Koester took the second spot. Rentfrow and Megan Schmidt combined at No. 3.

At Charleston
Charleston couldn't be stopped in an 8-1 win over Effingham Tuesday.
The Trojans easily claimed the top three spots, winning 6-1, 6-0; 6-3, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0. They went two close sets in the No. 4 spot and three sets in the final two positions.
In doubles play, Charleston claimed the top two spots by the same 8-2 score. Effingham's lone point came at No. 3 as Miranda Johnson and Ashley Workman won 8-3.

Teutopolis' junior varsity squad defeated Fairfield's varsity team 6-3. After the singles matches, the score was tied at 3-3 but the Wooden Shoes took all three doubles contests.
In singles play, T-town's Kara Schwinke, Sidney Brumelve and Audra Breer were winners. K. Schwinke and Christa Schwinke won at the top doubles spot while Brumleve-Charlotte Wente claimed No. 2. Breer and Thoele won at the final doubles spot.
