Bulldogs Fifth At Cyclone Tennis Invitational

SPRINGFIELD -- Effingham St. Anthony's tennis squad finished fifth in the Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin Cyclone Tennis Invitational Saturday.

Sacred Heart Griffin won the meet with 35 points followed by Mattoon 28, Normal U-High 25, Chatham Glenwood 24 and St. Anthony 18 in the top five.

Jenny Walters and Lexie Niebrugge finished second in the No. 1 doubles for the Bulldogs best finish on the day. The pair won their first three matches over Mattoon JV 6-0, 6-0, Bloomington Central Catholic 6-0, 6-0 and Sacred Heart Griffin 7-5, 3-6, 6-4. The pair then lost to Chatham Glenwood 6-1, 6-1 to take second.
