T-town Fifth, St. A Sixth at Centennial Tennis Invite

CHAMPAIGN -- Teutopolis High School claimed fifth and Effingham St. Anthony sixth in the Champaign Centennial Tennis Tournament during the weekend.

Wheaton Warrenville South won the championship with 31 points followed by Dunlap 29, Conant 23.5, Hinsdale South 18.5, Teutopolis 15.5, St. Anthony 13.5, Lincoln-Way East 12.5, O'Fallon 11.5, Belleville West 11.5, Danville 7.5, Belleville East 6.0, Central 5.0, St. Joseph-Ogden 2.0, Centennial 9, Urbana 0 and Watseka 0.

T-town's Anna Probst and Adi Davidson finished third in the No. 1 doubles. The pair won over Lincoln-Way East's Anna Bath and Melody Graham, 6-0, 6-0 then downed Hinsdale South's Hailey Goins and Teodora Savi, 6-3, 6-4. The duo then fell to Wheaton Warrenville South's Riley Lepsi and Reese Lepsi, 6-0, 6-0. The pair then defeated Belleville West's Annabella Brunner and Abby Treadway, 6-2, 6-1 for third place.

In the No. 2 doubles, T-town's Ella Wermert and Allie Ruholl blanked Urbana's Gwen McLean and Cidali Cortest-Alvarez, 6-0, 6-0 and won over Hinsdale South's Ava Chamberlain and Caidyn Sattle, 6-2 4-7, 10-8. The duo then lost to Wheaton Warrensville South's Lauren Morton and Kalbey McCab, 6-1, 6-2. That dropped T-town into the third place match against St. Anthony's Liv Hoene and Nora Trupiano who won 6-0, 6-0.

In singles play, T-town's Abbie Lee competed at No. 1 winning her opener over Lincoln-Way East's Taylor Jones, 6-3, 5-7, 10-6. Lee then fell to Wheaton Warrenville South's Brooke Itersagen, 6-3, 6-1. Lee then defeated St. Anthony's Anna Greene, 6-2, 6-1 before falling to O''Fallon's Natalia Spihlman, 6-0, 6-0 to finish seventh.

T-town's Lily Stortzum competed in the No. 2 singles and lost to Lincoln-Way East's Feryai Ai-Adwan. Then Stortzum won over Urbana'a Amani Brown, 6-0, 6-0 and downed O'Fallon's Morgyn Chambers, 6-7 (4), 6-2, 10-4. T-town won over Belleville East's Alex Randolph, 7-5, 6-3 and finished with a tie for fifth place.

St. Anthony took sixth. In the No. 1 doubles, Mia Kinkelaar and Ellie Link defeated McKennah Hamilton and Lily Rice of St. Joseph-Ogden, 6-1, 6-2 then fell to Conant's Advita Deepak and Nidhi Kareka, 6-1, 6-2. Kinkelaar and Link bounced back to win over Belleville East's Khloe Phillips-Dancer and Randi Bleich, 6-1, 6-0. The pair defeated Central's Kara Cherney and Fiona Leaky, 6-1, 4-6, 10-4 to place tied for fifth.

In the No. 2 doubles, Liv Hoene and Nora Trupiano won over Belleville West's Morgan Seagle and Gabrille Patterson, 6-3, 1-6, 10-7 and downed Conant's Thea Krachmarov and Noelle Koh, 0-6, 6-4, 10-8. The Bulldogs pair lost to Dunlap's Melaina Humbles and Maya Baman, 6-1, 3-6, 10-3. They finished third by beating T-town's Wermert and Ruholl, 6-3, 3-6. 10-8.

In the No. 1 singles, St. Anthony's Anna Greene fell in the opener against Belleville West's Kara Kramer, 5-7, 6-3, 10-8 then won over St. Joseph-Ogden's Sami Kelso, 6-1, 6-3 before dropping a match to T-town's Abbie Lee, 6-2, 6-1.

In the No. 2 singles, St. Anthony's Ivy Dalber won over Central's Mary Kim, 6-0, 6-0 before losing to Wheaton Warrenville South's Anna Ittersagen, 6-0, 6-1 and exiting with a loss to Belleville East's Alex Randolph, 2-6, 6-7 (6), 9-11.
