Greenville Downs St. A In Tennis, EHS Beats Mt. Vernon

GREENVILLE -- Greenville handed Effingham St. Anthony a 6-3 loss in Friday high school tennis competition.
The Bulldogs claimed two of the six singles matches. Manaya Mossman won the top spot 6-2, 6-3 while Joey Trupiano claimed the No. 4 victory, 6-4, 6-0.
In doubles play, the lone victory came at No. 1 as M. Mossman and Evan Mossman combined to win. The pair lost the first set 6-4 but came back to take the match 6-2, 10-8.
At Greenville

No. 1 -- Manaye Mossman (SA) defeated Andrew Martin (G), 6-2, 6-3
No. 2 -- Ivan Powell (G) defeated Evan Mossman (SA), 6-3, 6-0
No. 3 -- Carter Manhart (G) defeated Collin Westendorf (SA), 7-6 (3), 3-6, 10-6
No. 4 -- Joey Trupiano (SA) defeated Aidan Andris (G), 6-4, 6-0
No. 5 -- Tayshaun Wells (G) defeated Conner Eggars (SA), 7-6(3). 6-4
No. 6 -- Camden Walker (G) defeated Jackson Schultz (SA), 6-3, 5-7, 10-8

At Effingham
In a Thursday match, Effingham blanked Mount Vernon, 9-0.
Two EHS players kept their opponents scoreless. Ross Schaefer was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 3 while Rece Kinney did the same at No. 5.
Blayne Pals was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 1 while Cannon Bockhorn took No. 2, 6-1, 6-2.
Preston Siner claimed the No. 4 spot, 6-0, 6-3 while Blake Hagler finished out at No. 6, winning 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles play, Schaefer and Siner won at the top spot, 6-0, 6-0. Bockhorn and Kinney combined at No. 2 to win 6-0, 6-1. Hagler and Dirk Essegern finished out at No. 3 winning 6-4, 6-2.
