T-town Blanks Salem, EHS Falls To Flora In Tennis

TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis blanked Salem 9-0 in high school tennis action Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes swept through singles play with the closest match at No. 1 as Kolten Tabbert won 6-3, 6-3. Colin Habing blanked his opponent, 6-0, 6-0 while Oliver Lee was a 6-0, 6-2 winner.

Carter Davidson took the No. 4 spot, 6-0, 6-1. Will Lewis claimed a 6-0, 6-2 victory and Noah Thompson contributed to the sweep with a 6-0, 6-3 win.

In doubles play, Habing and Tabbert combined to win, 6-0, 6-3. Thompson and Lee were 6-0, 6-2 winners.

Habing and Lewis finished the match at 6-0, 6-0.

At Teutopolis

Singles

No. 1 -- Kolten Tabbert (TT) defeated Jarett Rushing (S), 6-3, 6-3

No.2  -- Colin Habing (TT) defeated Alex Wilzbach (S), 6-0, 6-0

No.3  -- Oliver Lee (TT) defeated Carson Huggins (S), 6-0, 6-2

No. 4 -- Carter Davidson (TT) defeated Kyler Sapp (S), 6-0, 6-1

No. 5 -- Will Lewis (TT) defeated Noah Slater (S), 6-0 6-2

No. 6 -- Noah Thompson (TT) defeated Caleb Purintun (S), 6-0, 6-3

Doubles

No. 1 -- Habing-Tabbert (TT) defeated Rushing-Wilzbach (S), 6-0, 6-3

No. 2 -- Thompson-Lee (TT) defeated Higgins-Sapp (S), 6-0, 6-2

No. 3 -- Habing-Lewis (TT) defeated Slater-Purintun (S), 6-0, 6-0

 

At Flora

Flora and Effingham played to a 3-3 tie after singles action. But the Wolves came back to pick up two of the three doubles matches to edge the Hearts, 5-4 Tuesday.

Cannon Bockhorn, Evan Pryor and Preston Siner were winners in singles play.

Bockhorn took the No. 2 spot, 6-3, 7-5. Pryor won over his opponent 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4. Siner then claimed a tough 7-6 win and then took te second set 6-1 at No. 5.

In doubles play, Flora took the top two spots.

Bockhorn and Rece Kinney combined at No. 3 to win. Flora took the opening set 6-2 before EHS came back with 7-5, 13-11 scores for the win.
