Hearts Edge Maroons In Tennis Action

Effingham High School played host to Robinson in tennis action Monday and edged the Maroons, 5-4.

Blayne Pals took the No. 1 singles victory. He opened with a 6-3 first set loss but came back with a 6-1 win and took the match, 10-6.

Evan Pryor also pulled out a tough match at No. 4. Pryor won 7-6 (3), 6-2.

Preston Siner and Rece Kinney took easy victories. Siner was a winner 6-3, 6-1 while Kinney claimed a 6-3, 6-2 victory.

In doubles play, Pals and Schaefer combined to win. The pair fell 6-4 before taking 6-3, 10-8 set wins.

No. 2 -- Aiden Elder (R) defeated Cannon Bockhorn (E), 6-4, 3-6, 11-9

No. 3 -- Owen Schmidt (R) defeated Ross Schaefer (E), 4-6, 6-1, 10-6

No. 4 -- Evan Pryor (E) defeated Jameson Poorman (R), 7-6 (3), 6-2

No. 5 -- Preston Siner (E) defeated Cody Waggoner (R), 6-3, 6-1

No. 6 -- Rece Kinney (E) defeated Duke Thompson (R), 6-3, 6-2

Doubles

No. 1 -- Pals-Schaefer (E) defeated Rosborough-Elder (R), 4-6, 6-3 10-8

No. 2 -- Schmidt-Poorman (R) defeated Pryor-Bockhorn (E), 6-3, 6-2

No. 3 -- Wernz-Hatfield (R) defeated Siner-Hagler (E), 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5).
