Effingham finished tied for second at Saturday's Apollo Conference tennis meet held in Mattoon.

The Hearts lost in the finals of the #1 doubles, as Thad Dillow and Blaine Pals lost 4-6, 4-6

Effingham won the third place match in #2 doubles, as Evan Pryor and Preston Siner won 6-3, 6-0

Effingham lost in the championship match of #3 doubles, as Ross Schaefer and Cannon Bockhorn reached the finals before falling 6-2, 6-0

In singles play, Thad Dillow won the #1 singles for the Hearts 6-0, 6-1

Blaine Pals claimed third place in the #2 singles, 5-7, 7-5, 7-5

Evan Pryor lost in the semifinals in the #3 singles, 3-6, 3-6

Preston Siner reached the finals in the #4 singles before falling 1-6, 3-6

Ross Schaefer won the #5 singles, 7-6, 6-1

Cannon Bockhorn won the #6 singles, 6-3, 6-1

The final results: Mt. Zion first; Effingham and Mattoon tied for second; Lincoln and Charleston tied for fourth; Mahomet-Seymour sixth; Taylorville seventh.
