Effingham St. Anthony handed Effingham a 6-3 high school tennis loss Thursday.

The Bulldogs moved ahead in singles victories.

Effingham's Thad Dillow took a tough 6-7 (3), 6-4, 11-9 match at No. 1.

St. Anthony's Evan Mossman claimed No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-1 and Aidan Tegeler was a winner at No. 3, 6-1, 6-1. Adam Rudibaugh claimed No. 4, 6-0, 6-0.

Effingham's Cannon Bockhorn won the No. 5 spot, 3-6, 6-2, 10-2.

St. Anthony's Matt Herzing captured the No. 6 position, 6-0, 6-0.

That put the Bulldogs ahead 4-2.

Manaye Mossman and Tegeler combined at No. 1 doubles to win, 6-0, 6-3. E. Mossman and Rudibaugh were winners at No. 2, 6-0, 6-1.

Effingham's Preston Siner and Blake Hagler claimed the win at No. 3, 6-3, 6-1.

No. 2 -- Evan Mossman (SA) defeated Blayne Pals (E), 6-4, 6-1

No. 4 -- Adam Rudibaugh (SA) defeated Ross Schaefer (E), 6-0, 6-0

No. 5 -- Cannon Bockhorn (E) defeated Connor Eggars (SA), 3-6, 6-2, 10-2

No. 6 -- Matt Herzing (SA) defeated Blake Hagler (E), 6-0, 6-0

Doubles

No. 1-- M. Mossman-Tegeler (SA) defeated Dillow-Pals (E), 6-0, 6-3

No. 2 -- E. Mossman-Rudibaugh (SA) defeated Schaefer-Bockhorn (E), 6-0, 6-1

No. 3 -- Siner-Hagler (E) defeated Eggars-Herzing (SA), 6-3, 6-1

 

At Mattoon

Teutopolis edged Mount Zion by a 5-4 score in tennis action Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes won four of the six singles matches. Kolten Tabbert took the No. 1 spot. He lost the opener 6-0 before winning 6-3, 10-5.

Carter Davidson claimed No. 4, 7-5, 6-3 while Noah Thompson was a 6-1, 6-3 winner at No. 5. Myles Stortzum downed his opponent at No. 6, 6-3, 6-1.

In doubles play, the Shoes took the No. 2 spot as Oliver Lee and Thompson combined to win, 6-4, 6-4.
