(Paris, France) -- Rafael Nadal is the French Open champion for the eighth time. Nadal defeated fellow Spaniard David Ferrer on Sunday, 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 to take the men's singles title. The 27-year-old is the only man to win eight titles at any Grand Slam tournament and is 59-and-1 all-time at Roland Garros. Serena Williams beat Maria Sharapova for the women's title.
