St. Anthony Downs Mattoon In Tennis Action

MATTOON -- Effingham St. Anthony tallied a 6-3 victory over Mattoon in a windy tennis match Wednesday.

The Bulldogs were winners in four of the six singles matches. The toughest match came at No. 3 as Evan Mossman fell in the opening set 6-3 before coming back to win 6-2, 10-6.

Matt Herzing battled to a 7-6(5), 6-2 victory at No. 5.

Manaye Mossman claimed a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the No. 1 spot while Aiden Tegeler downed his opponent at No. 2, 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles play, the Bulldogs were winners at No. 1 and No. 2. M. Mossman and Tegeler combined to win, 6-0, 6-3 while Adam Rudibaugh and E. Mossman claimed a 6-0, 6-2 win.

St. Anthony is now 7-1 on the season. The Bulldogs don't return to action until Saturday, along with Effingham, at the Triad Match Play Tournament.
