Bulldogs Blank Trojans In Tennis Action

CHARLESTON -- Effingham St. Anthony traveled to Charleston for high school tennis action and blanked the Trojans, 9-0 Tuesday.

The Bulldogs swept through singles play easily. Manaye Mossman went 6-1, 6-1 at the top spot while Aidan Tegeler was a 6-0, 6-2 winner. Evan Mossman blanked his opponent, 6-0, 6-0. Adam Rudibaugh won 6-1, 6-0 while Connor Eggars claimed a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Jackson Schultz finished out the run with a 6-1, 6-3 tally at No. 6.

In doubles play, E. Mossman and Rudibaugh claimed the No. 1 position, 6-0, 6-1. M. Mossman and Tegeler combined to blank their opponents, 6-0, 6-0. The toughest match of the whole contest went to Eggars-Schultz who won the opening set 6-4. Charleston's duo came back with a 6-3 victory before Eggars and Schultz captured the match 10-8.

"It was great weather for tennis," said St. Anthony Coach Darlene Esker.

The Bulldogs head right back into play today at Mattoon before heading to the Triad Invitational Saturday.
