Emily Kowalke, Laura Schmidt and Madelyn Brown were double winners as Effingham St. Anthony downed Greenville, 6-3 in tennis competition Monday.

Kowalke won the No. 1 singles match, 6-1, 6-2 and combined with Liv Hoene to capture the No. 2 doubles spot, 6-3, 6-1.

Schmidt was a winner at the No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-3 and Brown won at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-4.

Schmidt and Brown then combined to win the No. 3 doubles, 6-0, 6-3.

Also nabbing a singles victory was Mia Kinkelaar at No. 5. Kinkelaar was a 6-1, 6-2 winner.

At St. Anthony

Singles

No. 1 -- Emily Kowalke (SA) defeated Evie Johnson (G), 6-1, 6-2

No. 2 -- Paige Mathias (G) defeated Liv Hoene (SA), 6-1, 6-2

No. 3 -- Laura Schmidt (SA) defeated Ellie Schaufelberger (G), 6-1, 6-3

No. 4 -- Katelyn Ridens (G) defeated Ellie Link (SA), 6-3, 6-1

No. 5 -- Mia Kinkelaar (SA) defeated Cora MIller (G), 6-1, 6-2

No. 6 -- Madelyn Brown (SA) defeated Ana Palen (G), 6-4, 6-4

Doubles

No. 1 -- Schaufelberger-Ridens (G) defeated Link-Kinkelaar (SA), 6-3, 6-2

N0. 2 -- Kowalke-Hoene (SA) defeated Johnson-Mathias (G), 6-3, 6-1

No. 3 -- Schmidt-Brown (SA) defeated Miller-Palen (G), 6-0, 6-3

 

At Effingham

Mount Zion came to town and edged Effingham, 5-4 in Monday action.

Madison Mapes was a winner for the Hearts at the No. 1 singles spot. Mapes downed Allison Bradford, 6-2, 6-2.

Izzy Volpi was the only other singles winner at No. 3. Volpi won over Madison Koester, 6-3, 6-1.

In doubles play, the Hearts picked up two points. Aila Woomer and Volpi combined at No. 1 to win, 6-3, 6-3.

At the No. 3 spot, Ella Seaman and Kaitlyn Parker combined for the 6-1, 1-6, 10-2 win.
