Alcaraz, Swiatek Claim U.S. Tennis Open Titles

Third-seeded Carlos Alcaraz of Spain won the U.S. Open Sunday, defeating Number 5 Casper Rudd of Norway 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (1), 6-3 to earn his first Grand Slam title.

With the win, the 19-year-old also become the youngest man to be Number 1 in the ATP rankings since they were introduced in 1973.

Top-seeded Iga Swiatek of Poland won the women’s title Saturday for her first U.S. Open title and third Grand Slam, beating fifth-seeded Ons Jabeur of Tunisia 6-2, 7-6 (5).
