St. Anthony, T-town Capture Tennis Wins

Effingham St. Anthony played host to Robinson and sent the Maroons home with a 9-2 high school tennis loss Thursday.

Emily Kowalke and Liv Hoene were winners in both singles and combined to take the No. 1 doubles victory.

Kowalke won the top singles spot, 7-5, 6-7 (4), 10-7 while Hoene took No. 2, 7-5, 6-1. The pair then combined to win in doubles, 6-2, 6-3.

Laura Schmidt took the No. 3 singles spot, 6-1, 6-1 and combined with Madelyn Brown at No. 2 doubles to win, 6-2, 6-0.

Ellie LInk came back from a 6-4 opening set loss at No. 4 singles to win, 6-1, 10-6. Ellie Link then combined with Anna Green to take the No. 4 doubles, 6-2, 6-3.

Mia Kinkelaar claimed the No. 5 singles spot, 6-4, 6-1 and won at the No. 3 doubles with Anne Strullmyer, 6-2, 3-6, 13-11.

No. 4 -- Link-Greene (SA) defeated H. Hevron-Correll (R), 6-2, 6-3

 

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis and Greenville split singles victories but the Wooden Shoes picked up two doubles wins to edge the visitors, 5-4.

In singles play, Olivia Hemmen took the No. 1 spot by 6-1, 6-3 scores.

Greenville then swept the No. 2, 3 and 4 spots.

The Shoes' Anna Probst won at No. 5, 6-2, 6-2 and Jada Buehnerkemper finished strong to take the No. 6 spot, 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles play, T-town's Hemmen and Probst combined in the top spot. The duo fell in the opening set 6-2 but came back to win 6-3 and take the match 10-6.

Ella Wermert and Kelsey Niemerg combined to finish out with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3.
