All Local Players Eliminated at State Boys Tennis Tournament

All local players have been eliminated from further play at the boy's state tennis tournament in Chicagoland.

Effingham High School's Thad Dillow had picked up an opening round victory Thursday but suffered a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Peter Adams Agresti of Evanston Beacon Academy. He then fell 8-3 in a second round consolation match to Dylan Clausen of Grayslake North. Due to rain, the consolation matches are being trimmed to one set.

T-town's Kolton Tabbert and Ethan Thoele competed in doubles and won their opener Thursday but fell in the second round Friday, 6-0, 6-2 to John Yahiro and Patrick Burke of Lisle Benet Academy. They dropped into the second round of consolation where they lost to Deep Patel and Jackson Solava of Urbana, 8-4. 

St. Anthony's Manaye Mossman (St. Anthony) in singles lost his first round match to Nicholas Patrick of Rock Island Alleman, but then defeated Aryan Sachdev of Urbana U High 6-0, 6-1. Mossman defeated Wyatt Jurgensmeyer of Mascoutah 8-4, but then was eliminated by Gavin Murrie of Lake Villa Estates 8-2. Aiden Tegeler and Henry Kemme in doubles lost to Anthony Pomeranets and Daniel Shchebalev of Vernon Hills 6-1, 7-5, but then defeated Jackson Kohls and Spencer Kohls of Belvidere North 8-2. Tegeler and Kemme were then eliminated by Adam and Elijah Hartford of Aurora Central Catholic 8-2. 

Newton's Ben Street played in singles and fell Thursday to Jeffrey Master of West Chicago Wheaton Academy 6-1, 6-1. but he won Friday over Connor Lukkarinen of Macomb, 9-8 (5). Marco Cucuk of of Quincy Notre Dame, however, then eliminated Street in the next round 8-2. 

In the team standings as of Saturday afternoon, St. Anthony was tied for 18th place with six points, Effingham and Teutopolis were part of a large group tied for 46th place with two points each, and Newton was tied for 56th place with one point.
