EHS' Dillow, T-town's Tabbert/Thoele Take Wins At State Tennis, Continue Second Round Play Today

The Teutopolis High School duo of Kolton Tabbert and Ethan Thoele were opening round winners in doubles while Effingham's Thad Dillow took a victory in singles at the State Tennis Tournament Thursday.

The T-town pair defeated Dylan Costello and Alex Sebastian of Tinley Park, 6-1, 6-1.They will now meet John Yahiro and Patrick Burke of Lisle Benet Academy today at Rolling Meadows Friday.

Dillow downed Lino Jo of Champaign Centennial, 7-6 with a 7-4 tiebreaker, lost his second set 6-4 but came back to win the match on a tiebreaker 10-5. He will now face Peter Adams Agresti of Evanston Beacon Academy Friday at Schaumburg.

Suffering opening round losses in singles were Manaye Mossman of St. Anthony to Nicholas Patrick (Rock Island Alleman), 6-0, 6-0. Mossman drops into the first round consolation and will meet Chatham McIlroy of Rockford Christian at Wheeling Friday.

Ben Street of Newton to Jeffrey Master (West Chicago Wheaton Academy), 6-1, 6-1. Street dropped into the first round consolation and will take on Connor Lukkarinen of Macomb at Schaumburg High School Friday.

In the other doubles match, St. Anthony's Aiden Tegeler and Henry Kemme fell in opening round play to Anthony Pomeranets-Daniel Schchebalev (Vernon Hills), 6-1, 7-5. The pair fell into first round consolation where they will face Jackson Kohls and Spencer Kohls of Belvidere North at Palatine High School Friday.
