Effingham High School easily swept through tennis action Tuesday evening, blanking Newton 9-0 to remain unbeaten at 11-0 on the season.

In singles action, Wyatt Wohltman, Aaron Meyers, Isaac Foreman, Parth Maheshwari, Jason Wohltman and Nick Pellman were singles winners. The closest match came at No. 5 as Whltman defeated Chris Pitcher 6-2, 6-3.

In doubles play, Maheshwari and Minor claimed the top spot 6-0, 6-0. In the No. 2 spot, Caleb Gadberry and Jeff Keitel won 6-4, 7-5. Cody Sennett and Kodi Avery were 6-3, 6-3 winners at No. 3.

At Effingham

At Decatur

Effingham St. Anthony pushed its record to 13-2 with a 6-3 victory over Decatur St. Teresa.

St. Anthony picked up the top three singles victories and took the No. 6 spot as Cole Buehnerkemper, Frank Jansen, Scott Rentfrow and Alec Niebrugge were winners.

In doubles play, the Bulldogs claimed the No. 1 and No. 3 wins. Buehnerkemper and F. Jansen won 6-1, 6-3 while Rentfrow and Jay Niebrugge were winners 6-2, 6-0. The Bulldogs are back in action Thursday at Teutopolis.

At Decatur

At Charleston

Charleston pulled out a 5-4 win over Teutopolis in tennis action Tuesday.

T-town nabbed three of the six singles matches as Andy Mersman won at No. 3, 6-2, 6-0 while Mitch Minehart claimed the victory at No. 4, 6-1, 6-0 and Nick Pals won at No. 6, 1-6, 6-4, 7-5.

In doubles, Charleston won the No. 1 spot while T-town claimed No. 2 as Mersman and Keith Weber won 6-3, 7-6. But the final doubles spot went to Charleston to pull out the close victory.
