Effingham St. Anthony finished second at the Mattoon Tournament.

MATTOON -- Effingham St. Anthony High School finished second in the Mattoon Tennis Tournament Saturday behind the champion, Mount Zion.

Monaye Mossman captured first place in the No. 1 singles. Mossman defeated Robert Wells of Paris, 6-1, 6-0; Lane Fehrenbacher of Mount Zion, 6-4, 6-1 and Tejas Zala of Mattoon, 6-4, 7-5.

Evan Mossman took second place in the No. 2 singles.

Aidan Tegeler and Henry Kemme combined to finish second at No. 1 doubles while Adam Rudebaugh and Isaac McDonald were second at No. 2 doubles.

Teutopolis finished seventh. 

Mt. Zion won the team title with 42 points followed by St. Anthony 36, Mattoon 31, Urbana 30, Charleston 24 1/2, Newton 17 1/2, Teutopolis 17 1/2, Paris 12 1/2, STM 10, Maroa-Forsyth 9, Robinson 4, Casey-Westfield 2, Lincoln 2 and Shelbyville 2.

Troy Triad Tournament

Effingham High School finished seventh at the Troy Triad Tournament Saturday.

In Round One, Troy Triad blanked Effingham, 5-0.

In Round Two Consolation, Centralia edged the Hearts, 3-2. Thad Dillow defeated Chase Fischer, 6-0,6-1 while Blayne Pals defeated Ryder Koger, 3-6, 6-4, 14-12.

The Hearts then lost to East Peoria, 3-2 for seventh place.

Dillow again won at the No. 1 spot by beating Griffin Watson, 6-0, 6-0. Pals also claimed his second victory by downing Corey Taylor, 6-3, 6-3.
