Area Players at Class 1A State Tennis Meet

Teutopolis, Effingham St. Anthony and Effingham tennis players will be competing in the Class 1A State Tennis Tournament today.

Today's first rounds are scheduled in both singles and doubles action.

T-town has a singles player and two doubles teams. Grace Hoene will be squaring off against Champaign St. Thomas More's Maddy Swisher at Hersey. The doubles team of Macy Probst and Isabelle Hemmen will meet Catherine Engels and Ava Lannen of LaSalle Peru at Palatine High School while Lexi Will and Olivia Hemmen will take on Karen Speer and Sami Hartoin of Troy Triad at Buffalo Grove.

St. Anthony's Emily Kowalke will be competing in singles action. She will face Brooklyn Siegel of Chicago Wolcott in opening round play at Hoffman Estates.

Effingham's doubles team of Lydia Kull and Aila Woomer will take on Shikha Agarwal and Mary Meghrian of  Dunlap at Palatine High School.

If the area players win, they will continue on in action today, Friday and Saturday. If players suffer two losses, their stay at State ends.
