St. A Competes at Champaign Centennial, Effingham at Belleville

Effingham St. Anthony High School competed in the Champaign Centennial Invitational Saturday and finished sixth as a team. Cole Buehnerkemper and Frank Jansen captured third place each in singles play while Scott Rentfrow and Jay Niebrugge finished fifth in doubles play.
Morton won the team championship with 34 points followed by Warren (Gurnee) 31 1/2, Troy Triad 31, Chicago Andrew 22 1/2, Champaign Centennial 22, St. Anthony 16 1/2, McHenry 12 1/2, Pontiac 11 1/2, Mattoon 11, Teutopolis 11, St. Thomas More 8 1/2, Bradley 7 1/2, Charleston 4, Bloomington Central Catholic 4, Rock Island 2 and Urbana 0.

Effingham competed in the Belleville East Tournament Friday and Saturday and finished 12th out of 16 teams. Belleville East won the title and Peoria Richwoods was second.
