EHS, T-town Pick Up Wins At Bradshaw Tennis Tourney

EDWARDSVILLE -- Effingham and Teutopolis claimed victories at the Heather Bradshaw Memorial Tennis Tournament during the weekend, but the meet was cut short due to rain.

Effingham edged Mattoon, 5-4 and downed Belleville East 7-2.

The Hearts' Lydia Kull, Gracie Kroenlein and Kaitlyn Parker picked up two victories each in singles play. Also taking singles wins were Aila Woomer, Izzy Volpi and Madison Mapes.

In doubles action, Wendling and Kroenlein were winners along with Volpi and Parker. Parker also combined with Mapes for a doubles victory.

Teutopolis claimed two victories, a 6-3 win over Dunlap and an 8-1 tally over Greenville.

In the win over Dunlap, Grace Hoene, Isabelle Hemmen and Josie Drees claimed singles victories.

Macy Probst and I. Hemmen combined in doubles play while Olivia Hemmen and Lexi Will winners. Hoene combined with Kacie Habing at No. 3 for a win.

Against Greenville, the Shoes' Probst, Hoene, O. Hemmen, Julian Hemen and Drees claimed singles wins.

Probst and I. Hemmen combined at  No. 1 doubles while Will and O. Hemmen won at No. 2. No. 3 went to Habing and Hoene.

The Shoes meet against Dunlap was the first round. T-town then competed in the Challengers 1 Flight and won to advance to the second round where they defeated Principa School 5-0 in team match score. The Shoes were scheduled to play Danville for the championship of the Challengers 1 Filght but it was rained out.
