Eagles Beat Hearts, T-town Blanks C-W In Tennis

Newton High School came calling and downed Effingham 7-2 in tennis competition Monday.
The Eagles won four of the six singles matches as Jacelyn Street took No. 1, 6-0, 6-0 while Claire Griffith won at No. 2, 6-3, 7-5. Allison Harris nabbed the No. 5 spot, 6-0, 6-0 and Jessilyn Hall finished out at No. 6, by the same, 6-0, 6-0 count.
In doubles, Newton swept. Griffith and Harris combined to win, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1. Jacelyn Street and Hall were winners at No. 2, 6-2, 6-0. Taking the final match was Madison Emmerich and Lindsey McClain, 5-7, 6-1, 10-4.
Effingham's two points were in singles as Lydia Kull claimed No. 3, 6-4, 6- and Eden Wendling took the No. 4 spot, 6-3, 6-2.

At Casey
Teutopolis blanked Casey-Westfield 9-0 in tennis action Monday.
The Wooden Shoes' Diana Mossman had a fight at No. 1 singles, going 7-6 (3) before coming back to finish strong 6-1.
Alli Brumleve and Carley Habing were winners. Brumleve took No. 2, 6-0, 6-1 while Habing won with a reversed score, 6-1, 6-0. Macy Probst, Grace Hoene and Isabelle Hemmen all blanked their opponents, 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles action, Brumleve and Probst won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1. Hemmen and Hoene were 6-0, 6-1 winners before Kenna Koester and Lexi Will took the final spot, 6-1, 6-3.
