Newton, T-town Fall In Tennis Action

NEWTON -- Charleston High School came calling and claimed an 8-1 victory over Newton in tennis competition Monday.

The lone point for the Eagles came at the No. 3 doubles spot as Greg Sandschafer and Logan Brewer combined for a 7-5, 2-6, 10-4 victory.

At Newton

Singles

No. 1 -- Keegan Gowin (C) defeated Justin Zumbahlen (N), 6-2, 7-6 (6)

No. 2-- Zach Will (C) defeated Dylan Ochs (N), 6-1, 6-1

No. 3 -- Gage Gough (C) defeated Zach Dust (N), 6-0, 6-1

No. 4 -- Paul Witto (C) defeated Sam Hemrich (N), 6-3, 6-0

No. 5 -- Cameron Garrett (C) defeated Greg Sandschafer (N), 6-2, 6-3

No. 6 -- Pierson Smith (C) defeated Logan Brewer (N), 6-1, 6-1

No. 1-- Gowin-Gough (C) defeated Zumbahlen-Dust (N), 6-2, 6-3

No. 2 -- Will-Will Cope (C) defeated Dust-Hemrich (N), 6-1, 6-3

No. 3 -- Sandschafer-Brewer (N) defeated Vince Dinaso-Josh Will (C), 7-5, 2-6, 10-4

At Mount Zion

Teutopolis suffered its first loss of the season by a 5-4 count to Mount Zion Monday.

The Shoes picked up three wins in singles play. Kyele Mossman took the top spot, 6-4, 1-6, 10-6. Seth Probst won at No. 3, 3-6, 6-4, 12-10 and Alex Deters finished at No. 4, 6-2, 6-3.

In doubles play, the Wooden Shoes took the top spot as Mossman and Deters combined to win, 6-0, 6-2.

T-town drops to 6-1 on the season.
