PARIS -- Effingham High School edged Paris 5-4 in tennis competition Wednesday.

The Hearts captured four singles matches. Nate Linders claimed the No. 2 spot by downing Ethan Graham. Linders lost the opener 6-3 then fought back with 7-5, 7-5 counts for the match.

Brennan Barr took No. 3 easily, 6-1, 6-4.

Colby Heaton lost his opener 6-0 but came back winning the second set 7-5 and then claiming the No. 5 match, 7-5.

Lucas Hagler claimed the No. 6 spot with 6-0, 6-3 counts.

The winning point came in doubles where Linders and Barr won at No. 1. The pair took the opener 6-4 before Paris came back to grab the second set, 7-5. Linders and Barr then claimed the match 6-2.

No. 1 -- Linders-Barr (E) defeated Minnis-Lawson (P), 6-4, 5-7, 6-2

No. 2 -- Graham-Blair (P) defeated Stanfield-Heaton (E), 6-1, 6-4

No. 3 -- Clark-Moody (P) defeated Hagler-Qui (E), 6-1, 6-3
