Esker Family Named Tennis Family of the Year

The Louis and Darlene Esker family received an honor recently.  They were named the Mid-South Illinois Tennis Association Tennis Family of the Year.

This is awarded to the family in Mid-South Illinois Tennis Assocciation that has contributed to tennis throughout the years.

Members of the family include Louis who helps get courts ready, helps with junior varsity matches and helps with tournaments.

His wife Darlene has coached USTA teams, plays in the Effingham Women's League, coaches St. Anthony High School girls tennis and works with tennis during the summer.

Their children include Hannah Meece, Heather Esker and Hayden Esker.

Hannah played team tennis and tournaments at St. Anthony High School, was a four-year state competitor, played at Illinois State University, coaches at Bloomington Central College, is a tennis instructor in Bloomington and plays on the adult league.

Heather played team tennis and tournaments at St. Anthony High School, four-year state competitor, played at St. Josephs in Rensaleer, played at Ave Maria in Florida, helped with tennis at Franciscan University in Stebenville, Ohio and helps with summer tennis.

Hayden played team tennis and tournaments at St. Anthony High School, four-year state competitor, played at University of Springfield, coached Chatham-Glenwood last year, is a tennis instructor at Washington Park in Springfield and plays on an adult league.
