Some Area Tennis Players Survive to Saturday at State

The state girls tennis tournament wraps up Saturday throughout Chicagoland, and there are area girls still playing.

One of those is St. Anthony junior Emilee Mossman. Mossman won her first three matches before losing her final match on Friday 3-6, 0-6 to Claudia Miller of North Shore Country Day. She will play in the consolation quarterfinals today at Hoffman Estates High School.

Also still standing is the St. Anthony doubles team of Allison Kowalke and Averee Greene, who are 2-1 after three rounds. They will play today at Rolling Meadows in fourth round consolation action.

Newton's Jacelyn Street is still rolling after winning twice, then losing, then winning. She will play at Hoffman Estates High School in fourth round consolation action.

For Teutopolis, Emilee's sister Diana Mossman lost her first match Thursday, but has won three times since then and will play in fourth round consolation bracket action today at Hoffman Estates High School.

The doubles team of Alli Brumleve and Macy Probst won twice then lost and will play at Rolling Meadows today in fourth round consolation action.

The Effingham High School doubles team of Chloe Funneman and Lauryn Douthit were eliminated Friday. After winning twice, Funneman and Douthit lost twice, the second time 4-6, 0-6 to Hannah Riegle and Medha Venigalla of Chatham Glenwood.
