2018 State Girls Tennis Results After Day One

All of the area players competing at the State Girls Tennis Tournament in Chicagoland have completed first day action.
Junior Emilee Mossman of St. Anthony High School won her first two matches, winning the opener 6-0, 6-0, and then winning her second match 6-0, 6-0, so hadn't allowed a point in her first two events, then won her third match 6-3, 6-1.
Also in singles, Jacelyn Street of Newton is 2-1. The junior won her first match 3-6, 6-0, 6-1, lost her second match 6-3, 0-6, 2-6, but then won her third match 6-0, 6-1.
The third local singles player, junior Diane Mossman of Teutopolis lost her first match 0-6, 0-6, but won her second match 6-7, 6-4, 10-6, and then won her third match 6-2, 6-4.
In doubles play, seniors Chloe Funneman and Lauryn Douthit of Effingham High School won their first match 0-6, 7-5, 6-3 and won their second match 6-2, 6-1, but lost their third match 1-6, 1-6.
Sophomore Allison Kowalke and junior Averee Greene of St. Anthony won their first match 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 and won their second match 6-1, 6-1, but lost their third match 2-6, 3-6.
Junior Alli Brumleve and freshman Macy Probst of Teutopolis won their first match 6-3, 6-1 and won their second match 7-5, 2-6, 6-0, but lost their third match 3-6, 2-6.
Seniors Nicole Deters and Julia Hardiek of Teutopolis were eliminated from further tournament play, losing their first match 2-6, 4-6 and losing their second match 1-6, 2-6.
St. Anthony's 10 points garnered on Day One leaves them in fifth place in the state. Teutopolis has eight points, and Effingham and Newton have four points each.
The tournament continues through Saturday throughout Chicagoland.
